Rex's First Major Boo Boo!

Rex had his first major booboo this week! On Wednesday, July 18, Rex was having a normal day at home playing with mommy! We had a great morning, around the house, went to Wal-Mart to get somethings, then came home and it was just about lunch time, then nap time!

Rex was playing in his "club house" recently made by daddy!

It is just a hallway closet with a few blankets in it! We always leave the door open and he loves it! (This picture was not the day of his boo boo, but a picture of his clubhouse...and the laptop that will come into play later.)

Rex crawled out of his clubhouse with his laptop and started walking around. Mommy was sitting on the floor in the hall, playing with him and looking at his laptop (it was making a funny noise)--I blame low batteries.

Rex is not extremly stable on hsi feet yet and he stumbled and fell against the closet door...and it slammed shut. All of the sudden, mommy hears a scream! Rex is hurt! Rex had his finger in the back of the door (the crease) when he slammed the door shut. Mommy jumps into action.

I will spare you the details...but the finger was bleeding and swelling quick! It did not look good. Daddy come home to examine the damage...
After lots of crying, talking to doctors on the phone, making sure it wasn't broken, doctoring it up, grandma coming over to examine it, and more crying...Rex fell asleep.
What should have been lunch time...quickly turned into a nightmare. Rex took a 2 and 1/2 hour nap...then woke up in pain. We gave him some Advil and some lunch and our little boy was back to his old self! (He had to and still does eat with a sock on...so germies don't get in his wound!--We call it his cast!)

Here are some pictures about 7 hours after the accident. (After bath time)

All was getting back to normal...but his finger kept looking worse. So Friday, I took him to see the doctor (not our regular doctor...he wasn't available) The doctor we saw (I will not name names...because he was terrible) told us to go get X-Rays done on his finger...he was afraid it was broke at the growth plate. He also prescribed some ointment to prevent infection (the whole reason I went in.) I did not want to do the X-Rays...but I did, just to be safe. It was terrible...Rex was so scared, he screamed and screamed...the X-Ray lady got so frustrated with him. Let's just say...something I hope I never have to do again. Anyway...his X-Ray's came back fine. No broken finger. Thankfully the ointment and Neosporin are doing wonders and his finger is almost back to normal. I don't even think he will lose his nail!

I believe I (his mommy) cried more than he did through all this--he's one tough dude! I however, am not as tough as I thought! Watching my child hurt physically hurts my heart. It's odd. I love it all the same though--just reminds me how much I love him.

Eating and Swimming!

Whew, I think we have a messy eater on our hands! Rex has been diving into new food left and right. He loves to eat, so I guess that is a good thing! He isn't too much of a picky eater but he does shutter every time we offer a new food to him. :) Once he gets used to the food though, he is better! We are having a blast watching him try new things and feed himself. He LOVES veggies; just about any kind, he will chow down! This morning he had a Nutrigrain bar for the first time and loved it! He also loves Mac and Cheese, Chicken, Crackers, and oh my goodness...Ravioli or Pasta of any kind!

Since my mother had pictures of me like this...I do not think the apple falls far from the tree. :) I just had to post!

We also went on a swim yesterday! It was too cute! He doesn't dig being rubbed down with suntan lotion, but it is for his own good! :)

Walking and More Walking!

Rex has just recently learned to take some steps. He is "walking" but not everywhere he goes. Silly me, I thought once they take their first step...that's it...they are off! But no. :) Rex took his first step in May and slowly but surely he is taking more and more! Randy and I love to cheer for him and have him walk to us!! He gets so excited sometimes thought that he falls down! It is so cute! He also flails his arms when he walks...not sure if it is to keep his balance or just because he is excited. :)

And check out those cute jeans. ;)

Also..if you can tell in the background--we recently got a new couch (sectional) We love it!! The night before we got it, we were couchless (just for one night) so Randy let Rex use his recliner to drink his milk. He looked like such a little man!

Speaking of Randy--I have to do a quick flashback to Father's Day. Randy is such an amazing father. I am really blown away sometimes by his love and patience with Rex. We are very lucky! We didn't do much for Father's Day, but I we wanted to make it special. We gave Randy a photo album full of pictures of Rex's first year (and all of his month photos) My favorite part was the last page, it held these pictures. :)

Then I also bought Rex this onesie for the day of Father's Day! :) He played in it all day. I also made Randy's favorite meals and treated him to breakfast that morning. I think overall it was a great day!

Rex Year 2!

Well Rex has turned one and the first year has come and gone! Wow, was it an adventure! We loved every second with our little man though! Now we are home with him for the summer and loving every second of it! For Rex's birthday in May, I got him a little pool! We have been spending some time in the pool and enjoying our time together!

We also have been learning alot this summer! We have a mastered a few skills such as using a sippy cup, feeding ourself, and even playing with puzzles!
The sippy wasn't easy for us but Rex finally took it. I believe when we switched to whole milk--he no longer wanted the bottle. He looks so cute holding his cup now though! :) We never get tired of watching him!

Rex loves to feed himself now! We have him on just about any food we are having. His favorite though is Gerber Graduate Ravioli! Obviously we do not eat that, but man he can tear it up!!

Puzzles!! We have started playing with puzzles. I say playing because he is still grasping how to actually put the pieces in the puzzle. He can do the circle and the star! :) He gets so excited when he gets it right! :)

I will be updating much more this summer with pictures of our sweet boy!! Stay Tuned!
